Medical ophthalmology has progressed greatly from the 80′s until today, overcoming previous limits and evolving continuously. Abbondanza Eye Center is a leading center for optical and surgical correction of eyesight defects, such as myopia (nearsightedness), astigmatism and hyperopia (farsightedness), with the latest techniques of refractive surgery (laser, intraocular and incisional). The Center is highly specialized in cataract surgery as well, using the most advanced methods for complete optical correction.
Abbondanza Eye Center is also
a renown center of excellence for keratoconus treatment and cure, highly specialized in Corneal Collagen Cross-linking and keratoconus conservative surgery. Dr. Marco Abbondanza has been studying keratoconus for over 30 years and, in his medical career, he has become one of the leading experts on keratoconus conservative surgery, as well as on refractive surgery and cataract surgery. In 1993 he conceived himself a microsurgical technique to avoid corneal transplantation, namely the Mini Asymmetric Radial Keratotomy (MARK), and he introduced in Italy Corneal Collagen Cross-linking (2005), the Excimer Laser and PRK (1989).
Dr. Abbondanza visits and performs surgery in his medical practices in Rome and Milan, Italy.
