iLASIK

iLASIK
The technology used for iLASIK is effective and safe. Ophthalmologists have performed LASIK for more than 10 years, completing more than 20 million procedures. Recently the NASA and American miltary have approved the procedure for their personnel.

The iLASIK procedure is a technological evolution of LASIK, flap creation is performed with a laser rather than with microkeratome, this method is very precise and effective.
The objective of iLASIK is to remodel the cornea to correct visual impairments such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
The main stages of treatment are the following:

  1. A careful preoperatory exam by an iLASIK proficient surgeon.

  2. Digital acquisition of a corneal map, this will create a blueprint that will guide the laser to create a truly customized treatment.

  3. Superficial anesthesia of the cornea by using eyedrops and creation of a superficial corneal flap by using an extremely high frequency laser ( Intralase- femtosecond laser).

  4. Custom Photorefractive treatment of the underlying cornea using an excimer laser (Visx S4 star IR excimer laser) based on the data fed into the equipment.

The treatment is completely computer guided, safe and painless.

Following treatment a bandage contact lens is placed and local antibiotics and FANS are prescribed, visual improvement is immediate and continues to improves in the several days following treatment.
